What our staff say about us:

My name is Chloe and I started working for First Place Nursery in Radlett as an Assistant Nursery Nurse in 2016. I had already gained a Level 2 qualification in childcare but had then changed direction in my career and realised how much I had missed working with children. After successfully completing my probationary period, I was encouraged to begin my Level 3 qualification in childcare. I was unsure if I wanted to start studying again, particularly as I have dyslexia, but I need not have worried as throughout the course I received lots of support from my manager and colleagues. When I qualified in 2018, I received a £100 voucher and was promoted to Nursery Nurse and was still working towards being a Senior Nursery Nurse. During this time, I also received an award of ‘Rising Star’ which encouraged me to continue working hard. In 2019 I was promoted to Senior Nursery Nurse and loved working in Pre School (Saturn} and enjoyed the team I was working with. I then became Room Manager of the 2 ½ – 3 Class (Jupiter} in September 2020. In February 2021 I was given the opportunity to be the Room Manager in Milky Way the under 2’s room. I enjoyed all the new responsibilities, and I had lots of support from my manager to do my best as a Room Manager. In September 2022 I became Acting Deputy Manager covering maternity leave and in June 2023 I became Deputy Manager having the opportunity to develop my career and learn a different aspect of the job. I love coming to work each day as we are such a great team and always work well together.

—Chloe, Deputy Manager, Radlett Nursery

Radlett nursery is spacious with a number of various rooms. The children have access to the variety of space available and are engaged in activities throughout the day.
The staff are friendly and show care for the children. It is a fun environment! I have enjoyed my time working there as agency staff.

— Anita, Agency staff

When joining First Place Nursery, I had little experience working with children below primary school age. However, I have quickly settled into my new role thanks to the Radlett team. Their kind, caring and welcoming nature has made this place quickly feel like home, always told to ask questions no matter how many times I’ve already asked before. I have loved getting to know the staff, as well as all of the children. Learning the daily routine and having my room manager delegate more and more tasks to me each day has helped improved my confidence, knowing I’m trusted to lead activities and help with the planning. Teaching at the nursery, the children here have become my new favourite age range. All showing unique personalities from such a young age. I have enjoyed being part of their early childhood development and am looking forward to becoming more familiar with their learning preferences, hobbies and their families, too.

— Alexandra, Nursery Nurse

I’d never started at a workplace that made me feel as welcome as coming to First Place did. The company has been so supportive of me through my qualifications, even supporting me now as I do my degree in teaching. During my time here I have worked my way up the ladder going from a nursery nurse to now the pre school room manager. It’s been so comforting to have a company that believes in you and helps you achieve your goals! Everyone is so supportive of each other and I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have if it wasn’t for the team here.

— April, Previous Room Manager

My name is Harley Hall and I have worked at First Place Nurseries since April 2012. I initially started as a nursery nurse, covering maternity leave but due to a successful probation I was offered a permanent position and soon after I became a senior nursery nurse. In the 8, nearly 9 years of working for First Place I have worked my way up and had the opportunity to explore and experience various roles, including Room Manager and Third in charge and I am Deputy manager at present. The support from management throughout my journey at First Place has given me the confidence to progress as they have always believed in me and helped me to face any challenges that have occurred along the way. First Place is a lovely company to work for and I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey so far!
