Toddler Rooms

Our welcoming toddler rooms are designed for high-energy children and are filled with activities to support them to explore, investigate, develop thinking and form friendships. In this room children have a slightly more structured routine to their day, whilst learning through a wide range of accessible activities with good quality resources.

The garden areas provide children with more space and freedom for big movements like running, jumping, kicking, and throwing. The outside areas are accessed every day to release pent-up energy, be active, enjoy the fresh air, and keep healthy. As toddlers are insecure on their feet, experiences to help them learn to adjust their balance in different ways are important, and so crawling, climbing, and swinging are all critical activities for the children to enjoy.

Our partnership with parents to support children's toilet training in this room is particularly important, as children will be experiencing the change from nappies to potties and toilets. You can be assured that our well-trained, motivated, and committed staff will work with you during this transition.

In the toddler rooms, songs and rhymes with actions offer fun ways to explore the sounds and patterns of words. Repetition helps the children listen to the structure of spoken language and explore new words.
A love of books is always encouraged at First Place and reading stories aloud and sharing books support the toddlers to develop language and understand new concepts.
